Xabi Alonso made his 200th appearance in La Liga
tonight against Athletic Bilbao, whom he faced on his 14 January 2011
debut with Real Sociedad. The midfielder has scored 13 goals in his
seven season in the championship.
Real Sociedad lost 2-0 in the player's debut and he remained on
the team until the summer of 2004. He became a key player on the squad
and greatly helped the side end the 2002/03 season as runners-up.After a spell in the Premier League, Alonso returned to Spain signing for Real Madrid, with whom he made his debut against Deportivo La Coruña on 29 August 2009. He netted his first strike for the Whites in the 6-2 thrashing of Villarreal at the Bernabeu. He has so far played 86 league games with the Madridistas and has scored four goals in the competition.
